The Congress will be hosted by the Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (SFIVET). SFIVET acts in the service of the Swiss Government to train professionals that are responsible for VET (in vocational education schools, professional colleges, companies and industry courses). SFIVET also conducts research and development projects which focus on four main areas:
- teaching and learning in VET
- curriculum development in VET
- VET systems
- economics of VET
The SFIVET mainly pursues applied research questions. It cooperates closely with the Swiss leading houses of VET as well as with other universities and research institutions in Switzerland and abroad. The SFIVET department of research and development contributes to the transfer of research results into practice by helping to train professionals for VET, by assessing and monitoring the quality of VET programmes as well as by offering other kinds of services or consulting to the stakeholders in VET.
The development projects of the SFIVET are designed to meet the needs of its partners in VET (confederation, cantons, professional associations, companies). They should further contribute to the efficient governance of the Swiss VET system and help to initiate and promote innovations within the framework of the Vocational Education Act.
