One in every three learners enrolled in the VET programme in healthcare wishes to work in this field immediately after obtaining their Federal VET Diploma. Two years later, this ratio drops to one in seven. One in every two learners plans to enrol sooner or later in tertiary-level nursing studies at a PET college or a university of applied sciences.

These are the findings of a national survey conducted by SFIVET and OdASanté in 2010/2011. All learners enrolled in the third year of their VET programme, in all linguistic regions of Switzerland, took part in the survey. The initial survey report presents the career plans of learners in each region and the factors influencing these plans.
