The regional campus for the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland is located in Lugano. Like SFIVET's other campuses in Bern/Zollikofen and Lausanne, its mission is to act as a federal competence centre that provides basic and continuing training to VET/PET professionals and promotes research and development in the VET/PET sector.
SFIVET's regional campus in Lugano carries out these two missions in close cooperation with the Canton of Ticino's VET/PET Division. It also sees to it that the pedagogical training that vocational school teachers receive matches current guidelines on adult and training psychology in the specific field for which basic and continuing training is provided.
With support from the Canton of Ticino and the Confederation, SFIVET's regional campus in Lugano also develops research projects designed to provide empirical data and analyses needed to determine appropriate training measures. The data and analyses are used to design training courses that meet the requirements and needs of our clientele. SFIVET's regional campus in Lugano works to redefine its research, basic training and continuing training activities in accordance with the latest developments in occupations and working processes, especially the competencies needed and the instruments required to recognise and promote these competencies. Here, special emphasis is placed on ensuring the professionalism of teachers in the current information age and determining the impact of new technological advances on training activities.
In recent years, SFIVET's regional campus in Lugano has produced numerous reports that have been published by specialised publishing houses in Switzerland and abroad. These reports serve the purpose of documenting the work done in the area of training and research.
